Three people have been arrested as part of an investigation into alleged financial crimes involving the University of Greater Manchester, formerly known as the University of Bolton. The inquiry includes allegations of fraud, bribery, and money laundering linked to more than £1 million in suspected financial irregularities.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) carried out searches at properties across several regions before arresting two men in their 60s and a woman in her 50s. The University of Greater Manchester Investigation represents a significant development in a wider inquiry that has continued for more than a year.
More Than £1 Million Under Examination
Over 60 financial transactions that might have been associated with possible frauds are being analyzed. Also, over one million emails are being scrutinized in order to understand how the alleged misappropriation took place.
Three people were arrested for money laundering. Moreover, two men have been arrested for suspected fraud, and one of them was additionally arrested for bribe taking. No charges have been brought yet.
