Next year, one of the UK's oldest and most prestigious schools will open its first campus in the UAE. This will be a major step forward for Dubai's quickly changing private education sector. Rugby School Global, which was founded in 1567 and is known around the world as the birthplace of the sport that shares its name, will open Rugby School Dubai through a partnership with Aldar Education. The new school will open its doors to its first students in the 2026–27 school year. It will teach the full British curriculum from the early years foundation stage to sixth form. The campus will be in Nad Al Sheba and is meant to be a top-notch place to learn that combines old-school teaching methods with new ones. The school wants to set a new standard for holistic learning in the area by having more than 90 classrooms and specialized spaces for different age groups.
The Dubai campus will have a wide range of academic, creative, and athletic facilities that will help the school continue to focus on developing well-rounded students. Along with regular classrooms, the design includes flexible, collaborative learning spaces that encourage students to think for themselves and learn through questions. Students will be able to use cutting-edge science and technology labs that are set up for hands-on work in biology, physics, electronics, information technology, design, and food science. The creative arts will also be very important. There will be separate studios for art and drama, as well as a 400-seat auditorium for school events and performances. The sports facilities are a reflection of Rugby School's long history of athletics. They include rugby and football fields, a hockey field, tennis courts, swimming pools, covered and open play areas, and an athletics track. Dubai expects schools to be high-quality and community-oriented, so the campus will have special areas for inclusion and learning support, medical clinics, prayer rooms, and a café for parents.
Sahar Cooper, the CEO of Aldar Education, said that the partnership is a big step
forward for the UAE's goal of improving the quality of education. "We are
honored to work with Rugby School Global to bring its 450-year history to the
Middle East with the opening of Rugby School Dubai," she said. "This
partnership combines a long history of high-quality education with a modern,
caring setting that is tailored to each student's needs." Cooper said that
the new school fits with the UAE's Education Vision 2030, which focuses on
making schools competitive with schools around the world and training leaders
who are ready for the future. She went on to say that Aldar Education is still
dedicated to promoting new ideas in education, strengthening learning based on
values, and making sure that students have the skills and attitude they need to
do well in other countries. She said that the new campus embodies this mission
by combining top-notch academics with character building, creativity, sports
excellence, and community involvement.
The opening of Rugby School Dubai expands the school's global reach. It has
long been known for shaping academic, cultural, and sporting traditions. Rugby School UK is one of the oldest independent schools in the UK. It has strong
connections with top universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Imperial
College London, and several Ivy League schools in the US. In 1823, student
William Webb Ellis famously picked up the football and ran with it on the
school's grounds. This event led to the creation of the sport of rugby. In
honor of that moment, his name is now on the Rugby World Cup trophy. Neil
Hampton, the head of Rugby School Global, said that the expansion to Dubai
shows the group's dedication to bringing its all-around approach to education
to more students around the world. "This will be the fourth campus outside
of the UK in a growing, interconnected family of schools," he said.
"Our three UK schools are part of this family." "All the schools
in the Rugby School Group are dedicated to providing a high-quality, all-around
education that includes great academic performance, creative extracurricular
activities, and the best pastoral care in the business." We look forward
to bringing the Rugby motto "The Whole Person is the Whole Point" to
Dubai through our partnership with Aldar Education. The Dubai campus is
expected to become a center of academic excellence in the area, giving families
a mix of a rich history, global standards, and new ways of teaching.
