UAE’s EHS Launches New School Health Measures to Prevent Disease Spread
Key
Highlights :
EHS launches new school health manual with six prevention steps to prevent spread of disease.
Protocols launched for asthma, allergy, and type-1 diabetes with new care guidelines and emergency readiness.
Health education on heat illness and expanded school health services help hundreds of government clinics and schools.
Key Background :
Emirates Health Services intensified its move to protect the health of pupils following school epidemic fears of seasonal disease. The new manual uses global public health standards, emphasizing simple but effective hygienic measures like washing hands, care for cough, and surface disinfection in a bid to prevent infection.
Children with chronic illness require special attention since life-threatening emergencies like asthma attacks, allergic reactions, or blood sugar crashes have to be tackled immediately. By creating room for newer therapeutic regimens, easily available medicines, and education of personnel, the handbook readies the schools to tackle such emergencies in a safe and effective manner.
UAE's hot climate also raises vulnerability to heat exhaustion and heatstroke and dehydration. The guide proposes that schools closely observe outdoors, incorporate dehydration breaks, and respond promptly to signs of heat stress that have a tendency to worsen rapidly in infants.
EHS currently offers an extensive school health network, including screenings, immunizations, dental care, promotion of mental health, and emergency quick services. They are established programs that provide a good foundation for implementing new actions, where protection is always ensured in the rural and urban zones.
Integrating Emirati nurses into school clinics is also crucial, as part of the national objectives for building an educated local health workforce. It not only enhances the provision of school health care, but also enhances cultural awareness and inter-cultural communication with parents and students.
Overall, the new health guidebook is in the right direction to obtain students' and employees' health, reduce absenteeism, and ensure schools are healthy, resilient, and safe.
