StudyIn Acquires SUN Education to Strengthen Global Student Recruitment Network
Key Highlights :
StudyIn acquires SUN Education, adding 27 offices, 230 staff, and 2,000 student placements every year.
The deal will enhance StudyIn's penetration in Australia and Indonesia and expand its global reach.
Together, the business will process over 300,000 student applications per year and invest in people and technology for growth in the future.
Key Background :
StudyIn, formerly SI-UK, has grown into a global education services firm with operations in 45 markets. Its recent acquisition of SUN Education is a strategic step to expand its base in Southeast Asia, which offers gigantic potential for student mobility.
SUN Education has been a well-established organization in Indonesia since 2010. Having 27 offices across Indonesia and 230 employees, it has built robust networks with Australian universities and placed thousands of Indonesian students abroad over the past decade. The organization has gained a reputation for honest recruitment practices, safe procedures, and full-fledged student care services.
For StudyIn, this transaction has a dual advantage. Firstly, it establishes its presence in the Australian market, which continues to be among the world's most sought-after destinations for overseas students even with the recent sag. Secondly, it taps Indonesia, a country of 280 million who increasingly have an appetite for the chance to study across the globe and are turning the market around. Indonesia's growing middle class and increasing emphasis on international study make it a key source country of the future.
Rob Grimshaw, CEO of StudyIn, described the agreement as a major milestone to achieving a truly international, multi-destination recruitment platform. He highlighted the importance of trust, quality, and long-term relationships as the forces behind StudyIn's growth. In Grimshaw's opinion, by doing what is right for students and universities first, the company has managed to grow responsibly and sustainably.
SUN Education co-founder Fredy Subrata expressed this enthusiasm, calling the acquisition an opportunity to bring local insight together with global reach. He noted that when combined, the companies are able to push more student opportunities and deliver more value to universities all over the world. With their teams' complementarity and technology, the two companies are confident about shaping the next generation of global education recruitment.
Ahead, StudyIn is looking at opportunities for expansion into new and under-serviced markets such as South America and Africa. Despite pressures in the Australian market, such as enrollment caps and unstable demand, the firm believes. The consistent growth of SUN Education this year, along with more optimistic government indications, suggests that there is indeed a recovery already underway. StudyIn and SUN Education now handle over 300,000 applications annually, and they plan to continue to invest in staff and online infrastructure in order to improve efficiency and enhance the student experience further.
