Riyadh Air has announced a new scholarship program for people from other countries that aims to turn Saudi nationals into highly skilled aviation professionals through training abroad that is directly related to long-term employment. The Employment-First Overseas Scholarship Programme is a new way to develop the workforce. It guarantees that students will have a job before they start studying abroad.
The initiative is part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Scholarship Programme's Promising Path track. It is being carried out with the help of the Ministries of Education, Transport and Logistics Services, and the General Authority of Civil Aviation. It is meant to make sure that the results of education are very similar to the needs of Saudi Arabia's fast-growing aviation industry.
As part of the program, Riyadh Air will offer several specialized scholarship
tracks, starting with programs in Australia for aircraft maintenance
engineering. Some students will study mechanical and avionics engineering at
the bachelor's level. These are important fields for maintaining airplanes,
keeping fleets safe, and making sure operations run smoothly.
The airline said that the goal of this first phase is to improve the technical
skills of the national workforce, especially in areas that help with long-term
planning for aircraft performance and maintenance. Graduates are expected to be
very important in helping Riyadh Air's future fleet as the airline gets ready
to fully operate.
Next month, the second phase of the program will start, and it will focus on
training commercial pilots in the United States. This pathway is meant to help
the airline meet its future cockpit needs and make sure there are always enough
qualified Saudi pilots available as Riyadh Air adds more routes and flights.
One of the most important parts of the Employment-First model is that
participants will be officially hired by Riyadh Air before they go to school
abroad. The airline says that this way, students can be registered in Saudi
Arabia's national employment system from the first day, and their service
periods will be recorded by the General Organisation for Social Insurance.
Riyadh Air wants to improve professional readiness by recognizing employment
from the start. This way, trainees will have financial stability and a clear
career path throughout their training. The model also helps the airline better
predict how many staff members it will need and make sure that skills
development stays in line with future operational needs.
According to Nahar AlJahani, Vice President of Talent Acquisition and Business
Partners at Riyadh Air, the program shows the airline's long-term commitment to
developing the country's human capital. She said that the project will give
both men and women in Saudi Arabia access to world-class education and make the
country's aviation industry stronger.
She went on to say that the program helps Riyadh Air reach its bigger goal of
creating more than 200,000 direct and indirect jobs in the aviation value
chain. This will help the sector become a key driver of economic
diversification.
Riyadh Air called the scholarship program a strategic investment in Saudi talent that helps the country's goals of moving high-value technical and operational jobs to Saudi Arabia. The airline wants to make Saudi graduates more competitive on a global scale while also helping the aviation industry in the Kingdom grow in a way that lasts. It does this by offering international training and guaranteed jobs.
The airline also said that more scholarship tracks may be added in the future
as operational needs change. This will make sure that there is always a steady
stream of skilled workers ready to help Saudi Arabia reach its goal of becoming
a global aviation hub.
