FIFA has named Ivanka Trump to the advisory board of its new $100 million global education initiative. This strengthens her ties to the organization and gives U.S. President Donald Trump another connection to it. The goal of the initiative, which was created in collaboration with Global Citizen, is to use the power of sports to promote education and social progress around the world.
Ivanka's advisory board includes famous people from around the world, such as tennis star Serena Williams, music stars Shakira and The Weeknd, actor Hugh Jackman, and former Brazilian soccer star Kaka. FIFA says that the board's main job is to give strategic advice to make sure the initiative has the biggest global reach and the longest-lasting effect.
The goal of the project is to send money to grassroots education programs in more than 200 countries and grow FIFA's global schools program. So far, $30 million of the $100 million goal has been raised. The rest will come from ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup. A dollar from each ticket sold will go to the fund. The United States, Canada, and Mexico will co-host the next tournament from June 11 to July 19. It is expected to draw more than seven million fans across 16 cities.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who has been close to President Trump and traveled with him on several trips abroad, praised the initiative as a game-changing way to connect football with education around the world. The partnership shows FIFA's dedication to using the world's most popular sport as a platform for positive social change and bringing together leaders from different fields to support the cause of learning and opportunity.
